Private Autism Assessments in London

Comprehensive, neurodiversity-affirming autism assessments for children, young people and adults from our Central London clinic.

Our specialist autism assessment team provides thoughtful, evidence-based diagnostic assessments designed around the individual — not just the diagnosis. We bring together different sources of information to understand each person's development, experiences, strengths and needs, creating a fuller picture of the person behind the assessment.

With psychology-led and psychiatry-led pathways available, we'll help you understand which route is most appropriate before you begin. From your first appointment through to your final report, our aim is to make the process clear, comfortable and straightforward.

Autism assessments in Central London

Our private autism assessments combine specialist clinical assessment, developmental history and information from multiple sources. Rather than relying on a single test or score, our clinicians consider the information gathered throughout the assessment together to reach a careful and considered diagnostic decision.

We know that seeking an autism assessment can feel like a big step. You don't need to understand the different assessment tools or decide whether a psychology-led or psychiatry-led pathway is right for you before getting in touch — we'll guide you through the process and recommend the most appropriate route based on age and clinical need.

Assessments take place at our Queen Anne Street clinic in Marylebone, just moments from the Harley Street medical district, with Saturday appointments and excellent transport connections from across London and surrounding areas.

In-person ADOS-2 assessments

At The Cognitive Collective, ADOS-2 assessments are always completed face-to-face at our London or Cheltenham clinics.

The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) is a structured, interactive assessment completed with one of our trained clinicians. It gives us an opportunity to understand aspects of communication, social interaction and behaviour through conversation and activities.

The ADOS-2 is considered a gold-standard tool within autism assessment and was developed and validated for in-person administration. We believe completing it in the way it was designed to be used gives our clinicians the most reliable and clinically meaningful information to contribute to your assessment.

It isn't a test you can pass or fail, and there are no right answers. We'll adapt the session around communication and sensory needs wherever possible and make the environment as comfortable as we can.

A calm space in Central London

We don't think people should have to earn comfort.

Assessments take place at Library Rooms on Queen Anne Street in Marylebone, within a beautiful period building just moments from the Harley Street medical district.

Our rooms are thoughtfully furnished to feel calm, warm and welcoming rather than overly clinical, providing a quiet space away from the busyness of Central London.

We understand that unfamiliar environments and sensory overwhelm can make appointments more difficult, particularly for neurodivergent people. We'll make reasonable adjustments around communication, sensory needs and comfort wherever we can.

Saturday autism assessment appointments are available at our London clinic.

More than a diagnostic answer

An autism assessment shouldn't simply tell you whether somebody meets diagnostic criteria.

We want the process to help build a clearer understanding of the whole person - their experiences, strengths, differences and support needs.

Our clinicians consider information from across the assessment together rather than relying on one test or score. Where a diagnosis is given, your comprehensive report will explain the findings and include individual recommendations for what may be helpful next.

Your completed diagnostic report will be provided within 4 weeks of completing the assessment.

Before your autism assessment

Everyone entering our diagnostic pathway will first need either an Autism Screening with The Cognitive Collective or an appropriate professional referral.

Our autism screening costs £150 and includes screening questionnaires, a one-hour clinical interview and a written report with our recommendation for the most appropriate next step.

Screening also allows us to consider possible ADHD and mental health needs, helping us understand the wider clinical picture before recommending a full diagnostic assessment.

We do this before asking you to make the much larger financial commitment of a full assessment.
